Discover the Art of Face Painting
My name is Kate and I love face painting, which is why I started The Australian Face Painting School, to share my passion with people like you (assuming that’s why you’re here :) ).
It’s so rewarding to see kids look in the mirror and get excited about what they see after being made up. I’ll never get tired of watching their reaction. They constantly challenge me to come up with new designs and variations, which means I’m always on the look out for inspiration. I know I’m not the only one.
I established face painting school in late 2012, after working on the concept for several months. It’s been a long process but I’m truly excited about how the idea has evolved. Although it’s still early days, the support and interest I have already received from my peers has been very encouraging.
I’m a mum to three young boys, all under 8. They constantly challenge me too, but of course they’re all gorgeous and it won’t be long before they all grow up.
I’ve been working in the media industry since 1992, currently as a reporter for a regional daily. I’ve been interested in media and the arts from an early age. My mum was an art teacher and she took me along to more exhibitions than I can count, and she exposed me to the world of art and colour. I struggled to find my arty niche until I discovered face painting in 2011, and I quickly became hooked. It’s just so rewarding on so many levels.
In 2000 I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) and soon after started working in advertising; which included sales, copy-writing, and design, as well as developing my interest in marketing and the value of networking.
I hope you find my face painting school helpful and encouraging, and maybe someday I’ll see you at a face painting workshop or event near you.
